Women and Stun Guns
Filed Under Gadgets And Gizmos | Leave a Comment
I have always considered myself to be a pretty average woman – you know, a busy mom, writer, homemaker, worker, PTA member and community member.
I can remember a time not too long ago when I felt perfectly safe tooling through the neighborhood, going on walks with my daughter in her stroller around town, going to school events, the mall, going for a morning or afternoon jog and going to work.
I still consider myself a pretty average woman, but some things have changed for me. Even though I live in a pretty quiet town by most standards, crime has been on the rise. The thing about crime in this small, quiet town is that – just as in large cities – crime comes randomly and seemingly, out of nowhere. This is where normalcy ends for me and protection becomes a prominent worry.
As I have researched, I am finding that more and more often women and stun guns are becoming connected to one another. Women and stun guns might sound like an oxy-moron, but it has become a reality.
Most of us – whether high powered executives or busy homemakers – are concerned about our security. We can be vulnerable whether we are leaving the office walking through a dark parking lot to our car, working in our garden or around the house, or going to the ATM. Any place and any time a woman is alone or vulnerable, she is at risk of a personal attack by someone who sneaks up behind her, breaks into her home or follows her to her car.
As a result more women are purchasing stun guns. Why women and stun guns? Mainly because most of us don’t want to use a gun and necessarily kill someone; we want to stop the intruder or attacker in their tracks and get away or get help. A stun gun will incapacitate the attacker long enough for that to happen.
Most of us probably never thought things would get to this point, however; unfortunately they have. The good news is that we can protect ourselves and our families.
